- Why does Melinda put Andrea on the couch? Surely she has at least 2 to 3 bedrooms. When Jim's mother came with her "special friend", Jim was going to put Ellis in a separate bedroom from his mother, so they DO have more than one bedroom. It's funny because when Melinda puts her bed on the couch, Andrea says, "You guys are too good to me!". No they are not, because they could have put her in one of the bedrooms.
